- Two Hour Interview PART ONE
- Two Hour Interview PART TWO
- Two Hour Interview PART THREE
- Two Hour Interview PART FOUR
- Two Hour Interview PART FIVE
- Two Hour Interview PART SIX
In 2007, Andrew appeared on Tyler Pugsley's Alien World Radio program, and gave what may perhaps be his most long winded and in-depth interview ever, totally nearly two hours of non-stop discussion.
After the initial radio interview was complete and off the air, Tyler Pugsley continued asking Andrew questions and recording their conversation.
This recording became one of the favorites amongst AWK, as it's one of the only post 2005 interviews in which Andrew openly answers questions about a very wide range of topics, including some of the controversy and rumors which evolved during his career. Andrew finally puts an end to the lies, and it's all here.
Special thanks to Q.O.!

"WRCT FM Radio Interviews"
- WRCT 88.3FM Radio Interview - Andrew W.K. First Phone Call
- WRCT 88.3FM Radio Interview - Andrew W.K. Message
- WRCT 88.3FM Radio Interview - Andrew W.K. In Studio
On Tuesday, December 23rd, at 3pm, Andrew was scheduled to call in for a telephone interview with WRCT 88.3FM's "Aural Fixation" radio show, in Pittsburgh. The person who actually called into the radio station was not Andrew W.K. Andrew himself accidentally missed the interview, and unbeknownst to Andrew, someone else pretended to be him and called in his place. The radio DJs hosting the program did not realize that this wasn't the real Andrew W.K.
Once the real Andrew realized he missed the interview, he called the show to reschedule, left a message for confused fans, and set up a time to come into the studio in person, to prove that he's the real Andrew W.K.
After all three radio interviews, the show's host, Robin B., prepared detailed accounts of the events. The following exceprts are taken from his reports:
By Robin B.
Here is THE STORY behind the first radio interview. I figured I should explain a little bit about what happened behind the scenes, and even after the interview.
It started on the Thursday before the interview was scheduled to happen. I got a call from Andrew on my cell phone around 4 pm. He said that he was calling for the interview! I told him that it was actually scheduled to happen on the following Tuesday. He apologized profusely for mixing up the time, and re-confirmed that he would be calling on Tuesday at 3 pm. I had set the interview up via his manager Pete Galli. Following this phone conversation, I got an email from Pete that also confirmed the Tuesday at 3pm time slot.
So Tuesday rolled around, and my brother (the actual DJ) and I are at the studio doing his Christmas show. Shortly after 3, the phone rings and it's Andrew. Neither my brother nor I picked up the phone, because the radio station requires a trained producer to run the phone equipment. So that guy picked up the phone, put Andrew on hold, we played "Kiseki," and then he put Andrew on the air. If you listened to the interview, then you know what happened next.
The call got dropped during the time that we played "Linda Linda" from the Japan Covers album, and he called back shortly after. Because he had acted so strange during the time he was on the air, Alex (my brother, the DJ, who had picked up the phone this time), asked him if he was cool to actually do an interview and he responded "Yeah!! You got questions?? Fire away!!" Once again, if you listened to the interview, you know what followed. We played "I Want Your Face," and once again, the call was dropped. We never got a call back at the station.
HERE IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING!!
Later that night, around 9 pm, I get another call from Andrew on my cell phone. He begins to explain how he is at home in Michigan for the holidays and his schedule is all messed up, and how in the confusion, he FORGOT to call in to my radio show! I told him that we did in fact get a call. I then told him the rest of the story about the show. He said "Wow, so somebody called in saying they were me? Wow!! So to everybody who listened and didn't know that it was an imposter, it was kind of as if I actually DID call in!" He was very apologetic for forgetting the interview, but said that what ended up happening sounded very, very interesting. He told me that he wanted to reschedule the interview, and maybe he could get the imposter to call in again so that he himself could talk to him!
So that pretty much brings us up to what happened on the show two days ago.
Andrew was kind enough to send us a message to play on the air, in which he explains that it was NOT him who called a few weeks ago. My brother played it on his show accompanied by a few A.W.K. tracks.
The third interview obviously went much smoother than the first one (which is not hard, considering all that needed to happen was for Andrew to actually show up)! It's a really short interview, but at least he was awesome enough to stop in!
Special thanks to: Robin B., Alex, WRCT, JTH, and KW.
